With over a decade of experience in archival preservation, Brooke Lake has dedicated her career to the careful stewardship of history. As the founder and lead archivist of Monocurate, Brooke brings a unique blend of expertise, creativity, and passion to every project, ensuring that collections are not only preserved but thrive for future generations.
Brooke’s background is anything but typical—her work spans both the public and private sectors, giving her an uncommon perspective in archival management. Whether advising clients on the best ways to preserve delicate materials, optimizing storage environments, or overseeing complex digitization projects, Brooke’s comprehensive approach ensures that no detail is overlooked.
A graduate of Simmons College with a Master’s in Library and Information Science (MLIS) specializing in archival management (Summa Cum Laude), Brooke’s education laid the foundation for her success. She’s become a trusted voice in Central Texas, with her expertise featured in outlets like the Austin American-Statesman and CNN. Her reputation for meticulous care and innovative solutions makes her a sought-after partner for institutions, private collectors, and organizations alike.
Before founding Monocurate, Brooke held leadership roles that honed her strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities—skills she now uses to position Monocurate as a leader in the archival space. Under her guidance, Monocurate has achieved year-over-year growth, adapting to client needs with forward-thinking strategies that blend tradition with modern archival practices.
Brooke’s passion for preserving history extends beyond her business. She’s actively involved in key professional organizations, serving as Vice Chair of the Society of Southwest Archivists' State Partnerships and Outreach Committee (SPOC), and an executive director on the board of the Archivists of Central Texas (ACT). She also chairs the Marketing Committee for the Austin Archives Bazaar and holds memberships with the Society of American Archivists (SAA), the American Alliance of Museums (AAM), and the American Institute for Conservation (AIC).
Whether she’s managing one of the nation’s largest private collections of Civil War documents or helping local families safeguard their personal histories, Brooke approaches each project with the same dedication and care. Her mission is simple: to help clients discover, preserve, and share their stories.
